Cheryl 是新朋友，她從地球的另一面跑來香港教環境科學，知我在牛池灣村街市推廣豆蜜，特地來探班，見到天然過天然的豆蜜，非常好奇，說要試試。

說試試便試試，我在她右手手背噴點水，塗上一點點豆蜜…

。。。一分鐘後。。。

她看著自己兩雙手背，塗過豆蜜的那隻手背滑了、紋理也細緻了，不禁流露出難以置信的表情，跟著就說：「我要兩大瓶和一小瓶。」

把豆蜜放進她的隨身包後，她問： 「"whitening" 對你們來說很重要嗎？為何你要 emphasize 這個呢？」
我說：豆蜜實實在在是有美白功效，您剛剛已體會過啦。東方人常說「一白遮三醜」，東方女士們非常嚮往擁有吹彈得破的美白肌膚，她們護膚的基本要求一是美白，二才是保濕。

Cheryl 一臉驚訝地說：「真有趣。美白對我們來說不重要，我們用盡一切辦法去令自己擁有一身古銅膚色，我們認為古銅色看起來健康又有型。」

幾小時後，Cheryl 來電郵說：「我把和你在攤位的合照上載到面書去，即時就收到遠在美國家鄉的老友說要我幫她們帶些豆蜜回去，可以預留六大瓶和四小瓶豆蜜給我嗎？」

呵，原來美麗是會傳染的。

Cheryl is my new friend. She travelled all the way from the other side of the globe to teach environmental science in Hong Kong. When she learnt that I was promoting mung honey at Ngau Chi Wan Village Market, she paid me a special visit. Amazed by mung honey in its most natural form, she wanted to give it a try.

Okay, here we went. On the back of her right hand, I sprayed some water and spread on a tiny amount of mung honey.

. . . one minute passed . . .

She compared the back of both of her hands. The area that was treated with mung honey became smoother and firmer looking. With a bewildering look on her face, she said, “I would like to have 2 large bottles and 1 small bottle of mung honey please.”

Having put bottles of mung honey safely in her backpack, Cheryl asked, “Is whitening important to you guys here? Why do you emphasize it?”

I smiled and replied, “Mung honey does have the whitening effect. You just experienced it yourself. As the Chinese proverb goes, “A white complexion is powerful enough to hide seven faults.” Ladies from the east appreciate whiter skin. For them, whitening always comes first, moisturizing comes second.”

“That’s interesting.” Cheryl looked astonished, "For us, we make the best of every single chance to get a tan. Whitening is not so important to us; we look healthy with a tan.”

After a small while, I received an email from Cheryl. She wrote, "I posted our photo taken at the mung honey promotion stall on my Facebook and got messages from my folks in the States asking me to bring some mung honey home for them. Would you please reserve 6 large bottles and 4 small bottles for me?”

Indeed, enthusiasm for beauty is contagious.

服裝店就在舊區大街市，我租了店門口一角，擺個小攤位推廣豆蜜。
這舊區的街坊甚麼國籍的人都有。
店主跟我說，每當有南亞裔的太太走進他店挑衣服時，她們的老公一定會摶死老命硬拉著她們走。

不過，世事無絕對。

推廣的最後一天，在我正準備收檔之際，不知在那裡跳了一個南亞裔的俊男出來，他衝到我面前，指著豆蜜問我：「呢個係可以美白嘅咩？」

我說是。

俊男二話不說，從銀包拿錢給我說：「要一瓶豆蜜。」

當我請他伸出手來給我示範一下如何使用豆蜜時，俊男忽地轉身，我還以為又有客人給我過份積極的舉動嚇跑了，誰知原來他在向站在對面守著BB車的一位美麗年輕女士招手，示意她過來。

近距離細看，這位年輕女士不單止年青貌美，樣子還很俏，只是臉上長了一些年輕人的煩惱。

俊男豪邁地朗聲說：「我係買嚟送畀佢用咖，你教佢啦。」

聽到俊男這樣說，美女臉上那甜思思的神情，剎是動人。她有點難為情地伸手出來給我示範一分鐘美白，但是一點也不專心聽我講解使用豆蜜的精要，水汪汪的眼睛含情默默地望著俊男。

。。。一分鐘後。。。

俊男拿起美女雙手一看，說：「移椅，真係白咗喎。」

美女但笑不語。

俊男跟我說：「我屋企重有五、六個女人，如果用得好就再同你買。」

我謝過俊男，目送他拖著美女離去。
